Russia's Age of Elegance

~ A collection of paintings and costumes by artists affiliated with the Mir Iskusstva (World of Art) movement between 1898 and the early 1920 from the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg. The power of these works presents a tremendous opportunity for American audiences to learn about and enjoy a lesser-known, but equally vibrant period of Russian culture.~

Painting Revolution: Kandinsky, Malevich and the Russian Avant-Garde, editor John E. Bowlt

Painting Revolution was an exhibition of paintings by artists of the Russian avant-garde. Some of the artisits, especially Vasilii Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich, are well known to the Western audiences, but many are not, and a particular merit of this exhibition was that its wide diapason of names and styles demonstrated the richness and diversity of Russian visual culture of the 1910s and 1920s. (32 artists, 215 pages)
