Community Connections Training Program

The Foundation for International Arts and Education implemented grants from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to host the participants of the Community Connections program in the greater Washington, DC area. As a 501(c)(3) organization specifically developing a number of creative program initiatives within the former Soviet republics, the FIAE staff offered a broad-based practical training program for entrepreneurs and other qualified professionals from the countries of Georgia and Kazakhstan. Over the course of six years, the Foundation trained over 180 professionals.

FAIE conducted three follow-on programs with its Community Connections for Georgia alumni. TheAugust 2000 program was a start for the public awareness campaign – Course of Action – Educating a Nation on Behalf of Individuals with Disabilities. FIAE ‘s July 2002 and Fall 2004 follow-on programs concentrated on establishing a viable business alumni association.

Educating a Population on Behalf of Individuals with Disabilities
A New Beginning for Georgia

In addition to working on the ground in Georgia for over five years in a variety of programs, and providing training for more than 130 Georgian professionals in the greater Washington area, the Foundation for International Arts and Education undertook a major campaign to improve conditions for Georgian citizens with disabilities. Working alongside Georgian and international NGOs, as well as collaborating with officials from Parliament and relevant Ministries, the Foundation continues to seek resources to support its multi-year program to return a significant portion of these neglected citizens back into their Georgian families and mainstream life.
